Song of the week: Kehlani – “Folded”
Kehlani has returned with a gorgeous, typically empathy-filled track that plays a little like a more generous version of Beyonce’s “Irreplaceable”. Her smoky vocals drip with kindness across this breakup song, which defies the usual conventions of a breakup anthem.
Neggy Gemmy – “Blue Eye See Through”
Neggy Gemmy tries out ‘90s hip-hop on this scratchy, haunted new cut from her forthcoming record.
John Maus – “I Hate Antichrist”
John Maus’s first new song in six-odd years, and first song for storied electronic label Young, is as funny and freaky as it should be.
LSDXOXO – “PAPARAZZI”
A divine electro-house anthem from the king of the genre, whose icy vocals are cutting and deliriously bitchy.
Mark Ronson, Raye – “Suzanne”
Mark Ronson returns to his soul roots on this gorgeous new track that he and Raye recorded for … Audemars Piguet? Whatever works, right?
Kevin Abstract, Dominic Fike – “Geezer”
Sunny day dirtbag pop from the former Brockhampton leader and Dominic Fike, a match made in heaven.
BAYLI – “all of that”
BAYLI continues to turn out cunty club anthems, and for that we thank her.
Lyra Pramuk – “Oracle”
The Berlin-based musician has levelled up on her new album Hymnal, which is grand and deeply emotional.
AJ Tracey – “3rd Time Lucky”
Speaking of emotional: This cut from AJ Tracey’s new one is surprisingly mournful, and offers insight on ageing.
Leon Bridges – “Hold On”
This unreleased cut from Leon Bridges’ debut album gives raw insight into that now-beloved record.
